High definition
I finally broke down and bought a 42" LCD high definition TV. After 15 years of watching the 41" rear projection monster that took up half of the living room, I have moved up. When I first brought it in the house and plugged it in I was disappointed. The picture was ok but not great. The cable guy came out today and hooked me up with the hi-def signal. Now we're talking. I felt like I could walk right into the screen. I got a DVR and am recording Everybody loves Raymond tonight in hi-def. I can't wait to see it. I just hope I don't become like the test monkeys with the pleasure button and someone will find me on the sofa days from now with the remote in my lifeless hand. |

Bad day
You know how you think your day is going to go along wonderfully, and then bam...it goes south.. Well I got a decent start to the day and exercised and cooked my chicken breasts for the week's lunches, got a shower and headed out the door to get things done. My first destination was the post office to send my brother his Christmas and birthday presents. It was a shoebox neatly wrapped in brown paper and addressed. I walked in and there were 8 people in line. I stood patiently while the hand job at the counter who had a beat up 5 ft. long box was talking to the clerk as if this was all he had to do this week. After 15 minutes they had it set and finally the customer leaves. Yeah!! But noooo.. the clerk notices something is wrong with the package. The clerk calls the guy to come back and tells him he can't put priority mail tape on the package if it was going third class. Way to go clerk, you didn't notice it right away. More time goes by and I finally get to the front of the line. It cost me $8.50 to send my package and I bought some stamps. Length of time for transaction 3 minutes. Time in the post office 30 minutes. Now its too late to hit the bank, get some beer, get home, make something to eat and pack my lunch. I go home and turn on the grill in anticipation of eating this really nice NY strip steak but no my propane tank ran out. I have another but don't want to walk thru the snow to get it from the shed. I ate something else but was not happy about it. Now I'm at work and all is well. Current Mood: distressed |

Fun in the Snow
A weekend that at first seemed like it would be a snowed in, drunken, individual boring piece of crap turned out to be a fun filled exciting weekend. Thank God for Snow Taxi who drove me through a blinding snow storm to my sweetheart's house where we went sledding, had hot chocolate and watched movies. The hill we went down wasn't the longest I've ever gone down but that only made it easier to climb back up to do it again. We watched Harold and Komar go to White Castle (very funny)and The Village (very lame). Then I got home Sunday (Thanks Snow Taxi) in time to throw a few pounds of wings in the oven and watch the Eagles kick Atlanta's ass. It doesn't get much better that this. Current Mood: cheerful |

snow and traffic
It took me twice as long to get to work today because many people can't grasp the concept that snow is slippery. I saw 3 accidents, 2 ambulances and 1 closed road. For God's sake it was only an inch of snow. One good thing is, that I was going into work (2nd shift) and I called my boss and was covered but the traffic going in the opposite direction was 3 times as bad. So all those people were in for a nightmare time getting home. It will be fine by the time I have to leave (I hope). I finally got the tree down because I could not stand the sight of it any more and vow to keep the house picked up rather than letting it get to the point where it took two days to get it cleaned for Holiday company. I worked out today and will continue to do so every day so I can stay in good shape. I feel more invigorated as well. It's supposed to snow like hell this weekend so I am going to make sure I have plenty of food and beer in the house to weather the storm. I have not heard back from my mechanic about my Jetta but I am not inclined to put $1500 into a car that is only a backup and worth $3000. Current Mood: disappointed |

Exercise first
I jumped on the Nordic track first thing this morning, instead of the computer and I feel better about it. I feel like a bloated pig and it all started with a cruise the first week of November followed by the holidays. I am now back on track to a healthier thinner me. The next thing will be the taking down of the Christmas tree which depresses me just looking at it. All the Star Trek ornaments are off and now it's just no fun. Even though it was 67 today it won't stay that way for long and the long cold Philly winter will set in so I better get the tree down and be ready to build a nice comfortable fire. |

Joining journal
I have just signed up and am posting my fist entry. Even though I should be exercising I'm doing this. I am going to stop now so I can exercise and vow to awaken earlier tomorrow to get on this without guilt. |
